An Afternoon in Lanzhou

Chase was done searching for teacher's positions by noon so we hooked up with him and Marissa and Keen for a hike in the mountains next to the city of Lanzhou. Below are a few pictures of the landscape in this area of China.

On the mountain we found many gravesites...we pause for a moment while Nick attempts to read one of the tombstones in vain.

After passing over a ridge or two we saw this...

We soon realized that we were looking at sheep!...

And where there are sheep, often there is a shepherd!

And this is that shepherd!

We took a moment to pause. The girls talked and fed Keen while the guys contemplated the life of a shepherd...

After eating and riding on the back of his parents up a mountain, Keen was ready for a nap. Likewise we were worn out from a long day and ready to start our overnight train ride to Chase and Marissa's Chinese home-town of Baoji, the City of the Precious Chicken.
