I love accumulating scars and stories. I have another one and it is one of my favorite past times to make up crazy ways that it happened, so please humor me and ask me about it!!
In reality, the actual incident is about as interesting as anything my imagination could contrive, so ask me for the where and how details for
that reason as well!
Long story short: riding a motorbike, no helmets in the entire province basically, and no brakes on the bike. Bad combination careening down a windy dirt road. Bamboo or something else sharp collided with my face after I did a flip (I am sure it was at least a 9.5) and I got a couple little cuts. Wonderful nurse friend Shaune took care of me and I got patched up at a couple of places, including the best hospital in Southeast Asia. No worries, just a little scar and a sore tailbone!
You might have heard of some crazy people in the world who claim they "talk with God." Well, I some how caught this disease and God and I had some pretty good conversations as I immediately had to get back on the same bike with no brakes and go careening down windy roads for another 45 minutes to get to a hospital.
God is really good to talk to, you should try it.
I asked him some things like, "I thought you protected me?" and "Was going to this (ambiguous) place and serving these (ambiguous) people really worth it?" and "Will I still be the same person and people still love me the same with yet another scar on my face?" ( I hadn't realized it wasn't that bad yet) and "If you love me, why would you let this happen?"
If you ever have questions like this, you have to ask God. He happens to tell us, "great and unsearchable things we do not know."
More on that later...
